Our Therapists

Dr. Kate Curtis

Psy.D, LCPC

My name is Kate and I guide and emotionally support my clients, primarily adult, on their life’s journey. I will laugh with you, grieve with you and hold a safe space for you to process all life’s challenges, to be your best self, loving who you are currently and growing into the person you want to be. I feel it’s a privilege to hear your unique story and help you along this journey as we each experience highs and lows and need a safe space to process and grow.

For the last decade at Samaritan Counseling Center, I have been able to focus in on my true passion of providing therapy for adults of all ages who are working through transitions, becoming better parents, processing and moving forward from traumas, living more fully with mood disorders, addressing health concerns, dealing with infertility, grieving losses, working on improving their relationships, seeking better boundaries, loving themselves more, and leaving toxic relationships that no longer serve them. Dr. Lora Wiens

Psy.D., LCP

My name is Lora and I am a trauma specialist who helps to train other therapists to treat highly traumatized people.

Over the past 15 years, I have been a full-time clinician, focusing on developing my primary specialty of helping people recover from Complex PTSD and Dissociative Disorders. I believe that each human being comes into this world worthy of being loved, nurtured, respected, and welcomed into a family and into the larger community. But if this always happened, I wouldn’t have a job.

In my transition to co-owning Hope & Healing Psychotherapy with Dr. Kate Curtis, I will be putting more energy into helping therapists grow and passing on what I’ve learned as a trauma specialist. While my heart is always open, my time is not. So sadly, I do not see a time in the near future where I will be able to take any new clients. Read more…

Carol Irons, LCSW

My name is Carol and I have been a practicing clinical social worker for over 50 years. I have worked in many different settings, including juvenile court, governmental systems, behavioral health, addiction programs, and corporate Employee Assistance. Most recently, I have been providing counseling at a group private practice for over 8 years.

Whether running groups for troubled adolescents or mediating with a unit of corporate lawyers, my approach is one of respecting each person and searching for and building on the strengths of each person. I’ve had organizations as clients as well as employees and their family members. Social work practice has taught me to consider each person within their space, from family unit to communities of affiliation. Everyone is within their “place” however they’ve defined it. Sometimes that place has held some back or led to uncomfortable or distorted beliefs about themselves. Working with clients often feels like sharing a journey of discoveries. Read more…

Katie Carlon, LPC

My name is Katie and I enjoy working with people of all ages, from childhood to adulthood. My goal is to make each person feel heard, understood, and validated in a non-judgmental environment.

I believe that everyone deserves to have someone in their corner.  I use empathy, compassion, and curiosity to understand what my clients are going through and how they view the world.  But therapy doesn’t have to be all serious; I like to incorporate humor, art, games, and relaxation during my sessions, especially with kids. I use person-centered, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MB-CBT), Dialectical Behavior (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Motivational Enhancement theories in my work. I am also a certified Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) provider and use this scientific music-based therapy to help address many issues from anxiety and sensory processing disorders to ASD and ADHD symptoms.  Read more…
