Hannah Becker, LPC
My name is Hannah and I enjoy working with teens and adults. I approach clients from a Neurodiversity framework and I believe in the power of radical self-acceptance.
My Education and Experience:
I received my BA in Psychology with a minor in gender studies, and recently graduated with my MA in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University. I have experience working in a hospital setting caring for patients with suicidal ideation and other mental health struggles. I also worked in community mental health assisting people in crisis and counseling clients from many different cultural backgrounds, with a wide range of diagnoses.
How I Help My Clients:
My goal is to help people become more comfortable in their own skin. I believe that everyone has traits that make them special and I want to help people embrace those qualities. My clinical training is in CBT and Internal Family Systems. I am also trained to provide the SSP (Safe and Sound Protocol).
My Specialties and Passions:
Anxiety and panic disorders. Anxiety disorders are near and dear to my heart. I have family members who have struggled with anxiety, and I myself know what it feels like to experience anxiety and panic attacks. Our situations may differ but the anxious feelings are something we both understand.
Adulting. There are many transitions that make life difficult, especially the many transitions in your 20s and 30s. There’s college, starting a career, financial responsibilities, dating and stress related to romantic relationships, changes in family dynamics, becoming a parent, and the stress of renting/finding a place to live, just to name a few. Let’s work together to manage the stress related to the increased demands of adulting.
Autism and Neurodiversity. Autism and Neurodiversity are just another way of seeing and perceiving the world. Let’s work together to find YOUR way of thriving in this strange, beautiful world.
Stress. Let’s be frank, life can be stressful. There are many challenges that make life difficult, but you can choose how you want to react to those challenges. Let’s work together to develop the coping mechanisms that work for you, so you can enjoy life to the fullest and not be overwhelmed when challenges occur.
LGBTQ+ and gender identity issues. I have always been interested in supporting clients from the LGBTQ+ community, especially those who identify as transgender. I have seen firsthand the rejection and discrimination experienced by many people in this community. I want to help this community feel comfortable with who they are without shame.
First Responders and Military personnel. I have family members in the police force, the medical field, and the military. I’ve always had a passion to help support these special people. I want to help those who help others. I am working towards expanding my expertise in this area so I will be better prepared to face this struggle with you.
PTSD and trauma related issues. I believe in the importance of trauma-informed care and want to help people who are struggling with PTSD.
More About Me Personally:
I am a huge nerd! My interests include video games, playing board games with my husband and friends, going to renaissance festivals, watching Japanese anime, and listening to sci-fi or fantasy novels. To relax, I like doing arts and crafts, snuggling with my two cats, or playing Final Fantasy 14.
